“Guadalcanal Fighter Pilot”

This article tells the story of Sam Folsom, the last surviving pilot of Guadalcanal’s Cactus Air Force. I had the honor of speaking with Mr. Folsom in his Santa Monica home in January, 2019 - that interview will soon be available on the Oral Histories page.

This article was awarded the 2022 General Roy S. Geiger Award by the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation.
